Situated in the Perigord Vert region of the Dordogne this traditional set of restored barns are set at the top of the Dronne Valley just outside a village named Douchapt, the gites have outstanding & uninterrupted views over the countryside and are an ideal base for holidaymakers looking for a peaceful location but in a central location for sightseeing.
There is excellent fishing on our doorstep, one of our guests this year caught 30lb & 24lb carp within a 2 week stay!! Glorious walking and cycling routes around the village, local woods and the whole area. Discover this unspoilt corner of France is by either walking or cycling through the undulating countryside, happening upon beautiful little hamlets, caves and grottes, watermills, chateaux, roman churches, stunning riverside and lakeside locations. The gites are situated in a prime location for walking & cycling, Douchapt itself has two circular routes around the surrounding area following the many restored fountains and bathing areas and another for Roman churches. In the surrounding villages you have a total of at least 30 routes all very varied, catering for all level of walkers & cyclists, from gentle to the more challenging. The routes vary in length from 30 minutes up to 6 hours and all are excellently way-marked. Watersport enthusiasts are spoilt for choice in location and choice of sport. We are surrounded by rivers and lakes that are open to the public for swimming, canoeing, boating and more. You'll be spoilt for choice and can be assured of a fantastic holiday whether it be relaxing or active. |
